Description
Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide analog of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It consists of 29 amino acids (GHRH 1-29) and is often used in laboratory and research settings to stimulate endogenous growth hormone release from the anterior pituitary.
Key Features & Mechanism
- Acts by binding to the GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotrophs to promote pulsatile release of growth hormone (GH).
- Because Sermorelin works via physiological pathways (rather than supplying exogenous GH), the risk of non-physiologic GH exposure is reduced.
- Stimulates transcription of GH mRNA and helps maintain pituitary reserve and responsiveness over time.
Usage & Storage
- Store lyophilized vials refrigerated (2–8 ° C) until use
- Protect from light, moisture, and air
- Reconstituted solutions are usually stored short term or in aliquots to maintain stability
- Use sterile technique for reconstitution and handling
